UNISON Welfare is a registered charity for the benefit of its members and dependants.

It has assisted many members of the Branch but due to the confidental nature of the scheme members do not often hear about it - if you feel that you may qualify for assistance please apply safe in the knowledge that your application will be treated confidently.

Pam Cains is the Branch Welfare Officer.

May I introduce myself I am Pam the newly elected Welfare Officer of Gwent Healthcare Branch of Unison.

Welfare, sometimes strikes a note in people’s minds of receiving some kind of handout, so they are reluctant to approach us. Yes, you would be correct in thinking it is a charity - it's Unisons registered charity. Unison Welfare is for you so please use it.

This is a confidential service offering advice and support for Unison members and their families.

Debt line
Many have fallen in to the trap of debt, it’s easy to do with outfits clambering over us to take advantage of their offers. Then all too soon many find that they are in over our heads.
Pay plan
Working with Unison can provide members with free and confidential advice to help clear their debts. Phone 0800 389 3302, please do not be embarrassed they have heard it all many times before.

  • Debt advice
  • Holiday breaks
  • Personal advice
  • listening and support

The applications are sent to UNISON Welfare in London for assessment by a case worker. The application will be assessed with consideration to:

  • Whether the application falls within the current policy
  • Financial position within the household
  • Personal circumstances
  • What the applicant has done to improve matters

 If the request is outside current policy special consideration may be given.
