At last nights AGM  Herbie Thomas stepped down from the position of Branch Secretary. Herbie has fulfilled this role since Gwent Healthcare was formed in 1999. Before this, prior to the merger of the three Trusts, Herbie was Branch Secretary for the Glan Hafren branch  and before this was the Secretary for Newport NUPE Branch.   Both the Branch Chairperson, Terry Thurgar, and Andy Woodman, Regional Officer, paid tribute to contribution and commitment Herbie has demonstated as Branch Secretary within Unison and NUPE. At the AGM Gillian Gibbons was voted in as Branch Secretary. Gillian was the Branch Secretary for the St. Woolos COHSE Branch prior to the merger. Within our branch Gillian has performed roles as Treasurer, Auditor, Welfare Officer and Women's Officer. She has also represented the branch at many conferences and at both Regional Council and Regional Health Committee. Everybody recognises that Herbie's is a difficult act to follow but last night's election showed that members have confidence in Gillian's ability and commitment to serve the branch membership The updated listing of Branch Officers is now available. click here to view 12 February 2010
